GBSCDA will be awarding two (2) $1000 educational scholarships to help with the cost of tuition and/or towards the purchase of books to individuals who qualify to receive these scholarships.
If you have been a recipient of a GBSCDA educational scholarship in the past, you are not eligible to apply.
The mission of GBSCDA is to ensure that individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease are treated with dignity and compassion through advocacy, education, and services.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be accepted into an approved program for either the Fall or Spring semester or is currently enrolled in a college, university, or vocational school of their choice. He or she may be enrolled either as a part-time or full-time student.
- GBSCDA Executive Officers and Scholarship Committee members are not eligible to apply.
- The applicant must be an individual diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease living in MA.
- Demonstrate a history of commitment to their community through leadership activities, community service, and/or work experience.
Application Filing
Scholarship Applications must be submitted on or before May 20, 2022. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Feel free to save the application to complete later.
Please note: You must submit the following to complete your application.
- Five hundred (500) words typed double-spaced essay on “Living with Sickle Cell Disease: Overcoming Obstacles, Maximizing Opportunities”.
- Proof of enrollment/registration
- A letter of recommendation from a Guidance Counselor, Teacher, Pastor
